1. Sure, Billy Crystal returning as host is entertaining enough, but not as entertaining as when Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin rocked the Oscars. As consolation, Billy Crystal is way better a host than James Franco, whom last year plays a statue pretending to be a host.
2. A lot of people disliked Margaret Thatcher, and I have seen many negative reviews about THE IRON LADY, but Meryl Streep deserves to win an Award for any role she’s ever been. Not my first choice really, but now that she’s won her third Oscar, I’m not complaining either. (I would have voted Michelle Williams or Viola Davis.)
3. Hurrah for THE ARTIST! Hope local film distributors will release it as in VERY SOON!
4. Christopher Plummer winning for BEGINNERS in both Oscar and Golden Globes could really mean the performance is a must-see. I need to finish that movie NOW! (I did not finish the movie yet two nights ago).
5. Rooney Mara is sexy during the Awards night. Smoking hot!
6. Spielberg is snubbed. No awards for WAR HORSE whatsoever. Then again, Spielberg need not prove anything anymore.
7. I don’t know why. I was crying when Octavia Spencer won for THE HELP, and when people were thanking Scorsese. Damn! I want to meet Scorsese before I die.
8. Not much spectacle this year. BOOOORING.
9. Sacha Baron Cohen dressed as THE DICTATOR during the Awards night- either a really shameless advertising propaganda or a demented and hilarious stunt (I really don’t care. I love Cohen’s antics.)
10. Emma Stone. Rarrrrrrr.
11. And the best thing about the evening….. Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis presenting the Awards for Best Original Song. Priceless. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duv4US3PrJA
